Mac'n'Cheese with Crispy Ham Cubes

Ingredients for 4

500 g elbow macaroni
800 ml whole milk
300 ml vegetable broth
100 ml heavy cream
2 tbsp cream cheese, plain or herb-flavoured
20 g butter
2 handfuls of grated alpine cheese
Salt/pepper

Fresh herbs, as desired

Method

Hobby cook
  1. In a pot: bring milk, broth, cream, butter, seasoned with salt and pepper, along with the pasta to a boil. Let it simmer covered for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Once the pasta is cooked al dente, remove the pot from the heat.
  2. Meanwhile, fry the ham cubes in a pan until crispy and set them aside. Chop fresh herbs.
  3. Stir cream cheese and grated cheese into the cooked pasta until the alpine cheese is melted. Taste again, mix in fresh herbs, and garnish with the crispy ham cubes.
